Sustainable travel Did you know that 22% of our CO2 emissions come from the journeys visitors make to our performances? By choosing a more sustainable alternative, such as cycling or public transport, you help us reduce our carbon footprint – a legal obligation for our theatre as well. Public transport From Amsterdam Central Station or Amsterdam Amstel Station, the metro (lines 51, 53 or 54) will take you to the Waterlooplein stop in just a few minutes. It’s then about a two-minute walk to our main entrance. Tram 14 also stops right outside the theatre – get off at the Waterlooplein stop. Car & parking It is often busy near the theatre, and parking is scarce, making it time-consuming to find a spot. We therefore advise against travelling to us by car. P+R (park & ride) If you do decide to drive, we recommend using one of the seven P+R locations on the outskirts of the city, close to the A10, A9 and A2 motorways. Here, you can park your car at a low cost and continue your journey to Dutch National Opera & Ballet by public transport. Car parks At Q-Park Waterlooplein car park, you can reserve a parking space online in advance. As a visitor to Dutch National Opera & Ballet, you pay a reduced rate. Via operaballet.nl/en/getting-there more information can be found. Q-Park car parks are also available near Amsterdam Central Station and Amstel Station, where you can reserve a parking spot beforehand. It’s a short metro journey to the theatre from these locations. For a complete overview of the parking options, visit amsterdam.nl/en/parking Carpooling via Slinger Driving to performances with fellow opera and ballet enthusiasts is both more fun and more sustainable. Use the Slinger widget on our website to offer empty seats in your car or to search for a ride. It’s easy to share your ride in the widget (a pop-up window available on various pages of our website). Interested passengers will then contact you by email to make arrangements, such as a convenient meeting spot or sharing fuel and parking costs. No access after commencement Please plan your journey carefully, as unfortunately we cannot allow you to enter the auditorium once the performance has begun.
