Opera and ballet inspire, surprise, and bring food for thought. We want everyone – young and old – to experience these extraordinary moments. Through a variety of activities, we offer children and young people the chance to be touched by opera and ballet. For our small theatre, Studio Boekman, we create special youth productions such as Atman! and The Theory of Everything – intimate performances where children can experience the magic of opera and ballet up close. On the Main Stage, we present a variety of family performances that enchant audiences of all ages, including Operetta Land, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, and the touring production GRIMM. Beyond the stage There’s so much for young theatre enthusiasts to enjoy beyond the performances in our theatre. From Jump activities for ballet fans to Opera Heroes, where children can discover how to tell a story through music, there’s something for everyone. We also invite the whole family behind the scenes during our annual Open House. Educational programmes Our educational programmes bring the magic of opera and ballet to students of all backgrounds from across the country. Students can participate in workshops led by our expert teachers in their classrooms, attend performances at our theatre, or even create their own productions with our guidance.
