Shivering, he tries and tries to get warm, but even thick layers of winter coats don’t help. Isn’t there anything he can do to stop the shivers? Choreographer Wubkje Kuindersma is adapting the touching picture book Mr. Coats into a ballet for the very youngest audience. A heart-warming performance about the discovery that some things in life are better when you’re with somebody else. Wubkje Kuindersma is a Young Creative Associate with Dutch National Ballet. An important theme in her work is the connection between people. She enjoys collaborating with other artists, and in this case she is working with composer Anthony Fiumara, who has also written the music for previous ballets she has choreographed. Somebody who can warm you up Some years ago, Sieb Posthuma (1960 – 2014), known for his wonderful, imaginative illustration style, designed the colourful sets and costumes for Dutch National Ballet’s new production of the ballet classic Coppelia, by Ted Brandsen. Dutch National Ballet is delighted to be involved with Posthuma’s work once again, this time by adapting one of his books into a new children’s ballet.
