58 Award-winning smile-jacht Arcona 50 Standnr: B29 The Arcona 50 is the flagship of the renowned Swedish shipyard, represented in the Netherlands by VMG Yachting in Enkhuizen. The 50 earned accolades almost immediately after leaving the drawing board. After being named European Yacht of the Year, it was also nominated for the Hiswa Sailing Yacht of the Year Innovation Award 2024. Performance When you think of Arcona, you think of a performance cruiser. This yacht was designed by Jeppesen and Pons. Arcona yachts feature a vacuum-injected sandwich polyester hull with a Divinycell core. The hull is stiff, slices through water like a knife, and remains stable. The boat has a sharp, narrow entry and a wide, relatively flat, and voluminous underwater hull at the rear. Due to the large beam, twin rudders were chosen. Flush On the Arcona 50, many elements of the sailing setup can be customized. The keelstepped mast has three pairs of spreaders, rod rigging, and hydraulic backstay tensioners. The sprayhood is beautifully integrated into the deck, and there are also flush hatches. Thanks to the large beam, the cockpit is very spacious, with foldable tables and large carbon steering wheels. Sail handling is within the helmsman’s easy reach. All lines run below deck, and there’s a stunning electric traveler in the cockpit floor, which is adjustable at the push of a button. Lowering the transom electrically reveals a dinghy garage and transforms the transom into a swim platform. Experience The cockpit floor features large storage spaces, and all amenities are conveniently located. The Arcona 50 is a sailing yacht infused with extensive experience. The cockpit benches are comfortable, and the tables can be used to lean against while heeling. The helmsman’s position offers a clear view to monitor and operate everything. Below deck, there are six berths across three spacious cabins. The owner’s cabin, with a French bed and en-suite head, is located forward. Aft are two comfortable guest cabins. The light sandwich panel woodwork saves the yard a significant 800 kg. The finish is as expected from a yacht of this class, with everything beautifully crafted with rounded corners and handholds throughout. Multiple support points make it easy to cook even while heeling.
