The Hiswa te Water 2024 is fuller and broader than ever. It has become the place to annually orient and inform yourself about all the beauty available in the field of water sports. This is essential because you go to a fair to see beautiful boats that you don’t encounter every day. You also want to stay informed about new developments that make water sports more attractive, comfortable, and above all, more sustainable. The annually changing range of new boat models is a major reason why many people visit Hiswa te Water. After all, you don’t go to the same exhibition or performance every year. We are proud to report that we can showcase more than 75 premieres across various sectors at this edition. So, there’s plenty of news to see. In the Netherlands, we are quite ahead in our sector, but there are also beautiful nautical developments abroad that you, as a fair visitor, want to see. Our goal to make Hiswa te Water increasingly international is enthusiastically embraced by the public. We are pleased to welcome exhibitors from 17 different countries and five continents this year. Foreign exhibitors are increasingly seeing that Hiswa te Water offers an excellent platform to showcase their products. Due to the wide range of offerings and the many premieres, we make a step every year towards a more complete fair, where you, as an exhibitor, should not be absent. What can you find where? Never before have there been so many ships, yachts, and boats to admire at Hiswa te Water, and the number of premieres is unprecedented this edition. The success of previous years has led to the organization welcoming many new exhibitors this year. These newcomers experience their own premiere at the fair in Lelystad. Watersport Primeurparadise This year, entering the tent of Hiswa te Water is like stepping into the largest water sports premiere paradise in North-West Europe. The 2024 edition is better filled than ever. 440 boats are moored on 6500 square meters of piers. The largest boat at the fair is the 26.5-meter-long British Princess Y85, and the smallest is the inflatable Talamex of 1.75 meters. You will find outboard motors from 2.3 to 600 hp and boats ranging from €400 to over 4 million euros. The average boat length at this edition is 9.5 meters. If you line up all the boats, you would create a traffic jam nearly four kilometers long. The insured value of all boats and other products at the fair exceeds 1 billion euros. However, there is also plenty to see and experience for water sports enthusiasts with a small budget. There is a wide range of budget boats, and most other yachts fall into the category of ‘dream boats.’ Luxury lifestyle This year, Hiswa te Water exudes even more allure. The decoration, facilities, wines from Bernardus, catering by Maison van den Boer, pier layout—everything has been placed a notch higher on the luxury lifestyle ladder. The well-maintained appearance already led to a significant increase in international interest last year. In recent years, visitors from Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, the Alpine countries, and Italy, as well as water sports enthusiasts from New Zealand and the USA, have found their way to the fair in Lelystad. This has everything to do with the beautifully presented offerings of the best the water sports market has to offer. And, of course, Dutch yacht building has an excellent international reputation. Every day, teams from Boottesten.nl with Kim Riedstra and from Pakilo Media produce various videos for the fair organization featuring the latest news and the most beautiful boats. The videos are published online the same day on Hiswa te Water’s social media and on various websites, including hiswatewater.nl. International This year, there are exhibitors and products from 19 countries represented. A notable newcomer is the Riviera Sports Yacht 4600, which traveled from the Australian Gold Coast via Rotterdam and Roermond to Lelystad. This year, there is again an Hiswa te Water in the light of Premieres The QR code on the exhibition map leads to the most up-to-date layout of the fair. HISWA TE WATER MAGAZINE increase in electrically powered boats from around the world. Newcomers Most participants come from our own country, and many internationally renowned brands are also present. Brands like Steeler, Wajer, Elling, Boarnstream, and Linssen are just a few examples. A newcomer is the immensely popular Vanquish Yachts, known in the United States and far beyond. Also, for the first time at Hiswa te Water are the brands Wetter Boats and Dobber Boats. Among the outboard motors, Hidea is making its debut with its own pavilion. Remarkably, many boats are made of the indestructible HDPE, the material also used for Kliko bins. The share of catamarans and houseboats is also significant this year. In the harbor, you’ll find sailing catamarans from Bali, Excess, Lagoon, McConaghy, and Vaan. Across the way is the motor cat from Prestige. Also on display is the small catamaran from the Sailwise Foundation, which allows people with disabilities to sail adaptively. Segments The exhibition is divided into clearly identifiable segments. Additionally, all outboard motor brands have their own pavilions where dealers showcase their products. There is also a dock where the KNRM (Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution) moors to take visitors on boat trips, and a few brands offer sea trials to genuinely interested buyers starting from 5 PM. Across the way, along the Boulevard, many boats over 20 meters are moored. These include the Princess Y85 at the VIP entrance and two Van der Heijden yachts, 70 and 80 feet long. Smaller yachts with superyacht features, such as the Steeler B50 AquaZen, can also be admired along the Boulevard. Tents In addition to the piers, the other parts of the fair are also bustling with activity. On the quay of the Bataviahaven, there are no less than 147 tents where exhibitors display the finest products and various services. Here, you can admire the latest innovations in electronics and find all kinds of attractive water sports products, from sandpaper to electric motors, and from chart plotters to chart cushions. There are also stands at the fair where you can get information about nautical training and jobs in water sports. As every year, you can sail with the KNRM and marvel at the speed and skill with which the fearless rescuers perform their duties. Furthermore, there are workshops at the fair on boat maintenance, technology, and spectacular demonstrations of modern fun sports. Quizzes The stage by the water is the place where daily demonstrations, podcast recordings, interviews with famous water sports enthusiasts, and nautical quizzes are held. Here, you can relax and enjoy the fair while listening to live music performances or interesting discussions on water sports topics. Catering ranges from oysters to kibbeling, and there are several places where you can comfortably enjoy the delicacies prepared by the people of Maison van den Boer. So, plenty of enjoyment! 7

There are not only many European and national novelties, but even major international production yards choose the exhibition in Lelystad to launch their world premieres. Here’s a selection from the large number of novelties, spread over 4 pages. We note 8 new sailing yachts, 21 motor yacht premieres, 19 premieres of open motorboats (sloops, tenders, console boats, and RIBs), and 15 innovative new products. The Simonis/Voogd design features an aluminum hull and a polyester deck. www.breehorn.nl The Dutch company Vaan won Boat of the Year in 2022 with the R4. Since then, the larger R5 and R6 catamarans have also been winning numerous multihull awards. www.vaan.yachts Hanse is introducing two premieres, the Hanse 360 and 410. www.westyachting.nl From Austria comes the Lago 26, a sporty sailboat available in three versions, including a foiling version. 15 HISWA TE WATER MAGAZINE Prestigious Awards at Hiswa te Water 2024 Among the 440 boats at Hiswa te Water, you will also find nine particularly special ones. These are the nominees for the Boat of the Year awards. Each year, Hiswa te Water organizes the competition in three categories: Sailing Yachts, Motor Yachts, and Sloops & Tenders. Until July 1st, anyone could nominate a boat. The main conditions are that the boat must be less than 20 meters in length and must have been brought to market after January 1, 2023. This year, a total of 40 nominations were received for these prestigious awards. The jury, composed of water sports journalists and nautical experts, selected three yachts from each category. The jury sails with these nine nominated yachts the weekend before Hiswa te Water to choose the ultimate winners. On August 27, 2024, the evening before the opening of Hiswa te Water, the winners will be announced. It will be clearly marked at the fair which boats have been nominated and which are the ultimate winners. At the time this magazine went to press, the winners of the Boat of the Year awards were not yet known. 16 T he Hiswa te Water organization is continually working to raise the fair to a higher level. Lars de Vries coordinates the Food and Beverage services at Hiswa te Water on behalf of the organization. As a former chef with 27 years of experience in hospitality consulting, he has delved into the needs of visitors and exhibitors. Together with top caterer Maison van den Boer, he developed a catering concept with a broad spectrum of choices. From snacks from food trucks and an oyster bar to luxury sandwiches in the entrance tent and top dishes in the pop-up restaurant Zilt. There, exhibitors and visitors can enjoy the most delicious dishes and wines in style. Award-Winning Catering at Hiswa te Water Around 30,000 visitors attend a fair like Hiswa te Water. Of course, there are people who bring their own sandwiches, but most visitors and the nearly 1000 people working at the fair rely on the awardwinning catering of Maison van den Boer. The company from Veghel, which originally started as a pastry shop, has been providing first-class food and drink for 120 years. At Hiswa te Water, the caterer has about 30 people working every day. The fair is open from 10 AM to 6 PM, so the offerings consist of a mix of coffee, lunch, and snack options. For lunch, there are luxury sandwiches and various food trucks with snacks such as fries and kibbeling. On the other end of the culinary spectrum, exclusive dishes from top chefs are on the menu at the new restaurant Zilt on the harbor. There’s nothing better than admiring all the beautiful boats in the sunshine and enjoying beautifully presented platters of oysters, sushi, or short ribs together. There is a choice of many special wines, including from Fourcroy. For drinks, there are shared items, such as bitterballen, but also luxury sharing boards with fine meats and fish. Whatever your favorite dishes are, at Hiswa te Water, you won’t lack for anything in terms of food and drink. 24 Reliable with Knowledge of Nautical Matters Pantaenius Pain There are significant differences between various insurers. Pantaenius GmbH focuses entirely on pleasure craft and does not insure other matters. Due to this focus, there is a lot of nautical knowledge within the company. There are also many differences in policy conditions between the different yacht insurance policies on the market. Most insurers insure at market value, which often leads to disputes. Certain areas, such as the Vormt near Urk, the Randmeren, and the Biesbosch, are notorious for grounding incidents. Number two, force majeure due to natural problems, is becoming more common. 26 Innovatief en vederlicht Yamaha F350 V6 Standnr: Y This spring, Yamaha introduced the new F350 V6 outboard engine. This V6 was developed from the well-known 300-hp V6 block. But Yamaha would not be Yamaha if there were not a lot of innovations incorporated into this engine. Boat testing tried out the brand new Yamaha F350 in La Spezia (Italy). Exponential The predecessor of the new F350, the Yamaha F350 C was a 5.7-liter V8 engine introduced in 2016. The first (A) type of this model entered the market back in 2007 and at the time was the very first 350hp and thus the strongest outboard in the world. Between 2013 and 2023, sales of engines around 250- 350hp increased by 400%. This is because many inboard gasoline and diesel engines are being replaced by modern, powerful outboards. These are more compact, lighter, cheaper and easier to maintain. Large block The Yamaha F 350 has a large 4.3-liter V6 block with two rows of three cylinders at a 60-degree angle. They have dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing. It is clever that the Japanese can get 350 horsepower out of a six-cylinder weighing only 293 pounds. This Yamaha F350 is by far the lightest in its class. That’s partly because the cylinder walls have been treated with a plasma spray coating that reduces resistance by 60 percent. This eliminates the need for steel piston liners. Piston travel has also been increased so that the engine’s cylinders deliver great torque even at low rpm. Thanks to the larger gas intake valve from the 450hp Yamaha XTO, a larger air-fuel mixture reaches the engine. Innovative Of course, this new F350 has the integrated Yamaha steering system. With this, the electric motor inside the hood digitally directs the unit in the right direction, eliminating the need for an external steering cylinder. The system works perfectly, steering feather light and precise. Acceleration Boat Testing sailed the new Yamaha F350 on about four different boats and in

27 HISWA TE WATER MAGAZINE different configurations. The over 12-ton Invictus TT420 had three F350 engines at the transom. With the joystick, this large cabin yacht was simple to maneuver. When accelerating, the three engines made a sound you can tell you’re unleashing a lot of horsepower. It is the sound of pure power. The top with this combination was 40 knots, almost 80 mph. We then tested twin installations on the 5,700-pound, 13-meter Capelli Tempest 42 Cabin RIB and the 6,000-pound Jeanneau Cap Camarat 10.5 motor yacht. Tops of around 42 knots were achieved on both boats, and on the Capelli in particular the acceleration was phenomenal. Within 10 seconds we recorded 30 knots. Phenomenal performance The test run on the 3.8-ton German Strong 31 with twin F350 gave a spectacular picture of the phenomenal performance of the new engines. In 10 seconds we reached 30 knots and there seemed to be no end to the acceleration. Only at 58 knots (107 km/h) did we reach top speed. The Strong is an extremely fast and comfortable yacht with exceptionally good cruising characteristics. And with twin Yamaha F350s, it is probably the fastest yacht in her class. Addition The fuel consumption of the new F350 engines is about the same as that of the F300 engines. With the Helm Master EX system, internal steering and optional coupling to a bow thruster, powerful engines are extra safe and comfortable to operate. Greek Violence Protagon 25 with Honda BF250 Standnr: H Last year Protagon entered the Dutch market as a new brand and these console boats were enthusiastically received. Importer MCR-Rijnzicht brings the Protagons from Greece to Katwijk, where they are built to customers’ requirements. Tradition In Greece, they have long known how to make a solid boat that you can safely take out to sea. Yet the luxury Protagon console tenders look contemporary with a distinctive look. Since Boot Düsseldorf, the Protagon 25 has been on the market. This one measures 8 meters from head to tail and is thus not a 25-footer but almost 28 feet long. So you get considerably more boat for your money. Part of this gain comes from the spacious swim platform. Riant During the Hiswa te Water 2024, the Protagon 25 will be a first for the Benelux. The boats are equipped with Honda outboard engines. The smallest drive for the 1400 kilo boat is with a 150hp, but on the tested model is chosen for the 250hp strong Honda BF250. Behind the boat even the new Honda 350hp top model fits. The Protagon 25 has a generous space for a toilet under the large console. Here you can read the newspaper at your leisure, without having to fold in half. You will also find in this compact wet room a glass basin whose faucet can be used as a shower head. A second sink can be found in the wet bar behind the driver’s seat. Near the passage to the swimming platform is an outdoor shower. Sun, sun, sun The layout of the Protagon 25 is logical and practical. There is good headroom and there are sturdy brackets everywhere to grab onto.The long rail incorporated into the edge of the cockpit is an excellent safety feature that you can also use to attach the lines of the fenders.Up front is a deep anchor locker.From the seats with low backrests in front you can make a large sun deck.Out back, by lowering the table, you can turn the L-shaped bench into a large square area to enjoy the sun. . Comfort Behind the steering console are two bucket seats with flip-up seats. For navigation and engine data, the console has a large Garmin screen. Technology The stepped underwater hull makes the boat suitable for sailing in big waves and has double steps for faster planing. When you accelerate you notice the fantastic Honda technology of this 3.5 liter V6 engine. At low revs, BLAST helps accelerate quickly. Above 4000 rpm, variable valve timing and orifice comes into play for extra power. And when cruising leisurely, Ecomo minimizes your fuel consumption. The digital IST throttle lever shifts smoothly, and it’s protected against unexpected throttling. Violence The 250 hp is a hefty engine at the transom, but because it can make a big turn, the Protagon 25 maneuvers like a sloop. The boat tracks excellently and quietly sailing needs virtually no steering correction. For the turning circle, 10 meters of space is enough and when sailing fast you can pull the boat through the turn almost on its side. Jumping over the waves, the boat doesn’t budge. You notice that the 25 is very heavily laminated. This great Greek is made to withstand any natural violence. Even at the top speed of 80 km/h, the Protagon feels stable.
