Entrepreneurial Behaviour for a Sustainable Future

Mitchell Droog Maurice Boot Robert Barendregt Mitchell is a researcher at the New Entrepreneurship lectorate and a lecturer, trainer, and coach in the Communication program. He contributes to Avans Centres of Expertise Wellbeing Economy and New Entrepreneurship and MNEXT, focusing on sustainable entrepreneurship, CSR, behavioural analysis, co-creation, and community development. Known for his versatility and creativity, Mitchell helps organisations and students identify meaningful steps toward growth, encouraging them to consider their roles within systems and transitions. With the motto ”Beat the system; move the people!” he connects sustainability challenges with educational programmes. Since joining Avans in 2011, Mitchell has worked in various roles, leveraging his background with commercial and social organisations to foster collaboration that drives multifaceted value and impactful change. After a career supporting companies in solving complex international business and financial challenges, Maurice is now active as a lecturer and researcher in applied sciences. Through his experience in education and programme development, he aims to inspire and contribute to the growth of a new generation of managers and entrepreneurs with a focus on social responsibility. At Avans , he works as a senior lecturer in International Business, guiding students in strategic and financial management, supply chain management, and entrepreneurship. He is also involved in developing the Master’s programme in Sustainability Transitions, a national program in collaboration with 11 UAS. Additionally, he contributes as a researcher at the Centre of Expertise Wellbeing Economy and New Entrepreneurship, focusing on sustainable business models. Robert is a lecturer in the International Business programme in ’s-Hertogenbosch. He teaches courses related to marketing and sales, as well as personal development, and supervises interns and graduates. In addition, as the sustainability portfolio holder, he is responsible for integrating sustainability into the entire curriculum. Robert obtained his Master’s in Business Administration, with a specialisation in Marketing Management, from the Rotterdam School of Management. After his studies, he worked for 15 years in the corporate sector at various international SMEs in the areas of sales, marketing communication, and strategic marketing, with 10 of those years in leadership roles. 56 Chapter 10.
