Joost van Hilst Marieke van Geel Lieke Nieuwenhuizen–van Amelsfort Joost is a researcher in the New Entrepreneurship group and a senior lecturer in Business Administration (AMF) with expertise in strategic management, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business models. He coordinates the international minor Business, Leadership, and Sustainability and developed a generic learning trajectory (viz. Sustainable Transitions) for all Avans’ Masters . Joost, a pragmatic idealist, believes in improving the world using practical tools. With a Master’s in Business Administration and additional training in managing change and innovation, Joost has focused on internationalisation, contributing to Avans’ Global Engagement policy. Marieke has been a lecturer/researcher within the New Entrepreneurship research group since August 2024. She also works as a lecturer and coach in Business Administration for the Academy of Management & Finance, where she teaches courses such as Management & organisation and Sustainable Business Processes, and supervises graduates in conducting research. Additionally, Marieke works as a developer for the master’s programme in Sustainable Innovation, a new programme that Avans hopes to welcome its first students to in September 2026. Prior to her work at Avans, Marieke held the position of HRM manager at several healthcare institutions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in HRM and later obtained a master’s degree in Management & Innovation as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration. Lieke is a lecturer-researcher with the New Entrepreneurship research group. She teaches in the Business Administration programme, focusing on Sustainable Business Processes, Information Management, and Lean Management. In addition to coaching second-year students and graduates, Lieke coordinates the second-year semester ‘Continuous Improvement’. On behalf of Avans, she is one of the leaders in developing the new Master’s program in Data Driven Business. She completed her degree in Industrial Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. After her studies, she worked at Vopak, Mars, and Argusi, gaining experience in logistics and supply chain management, both in operational roles, such as Management Trainee and Senior Demand Planner, and as a consultant, serving as Senior Project Lead.
