Transitioning towards an economy of well-being is complex, systemic, dynamic, and uncertain. Individuals and organisations often struggle to connect with and adapt to our fast-changing world. An economy of well-being is grounded in the idea that individuals are not merely means of economic production and consumption, but are persons that should flourish and live a life of well-being (Sen, 1999). Well-being is achieved when individuals have the freedom and capabilities to pursue the lives they have reason to value. In this framework, well-being extends beyond economic measures, highlighting the importance of individual agency that foster human development. This chapter introduces a framework designed to enhance and empower both individual and collective agency, positioning it as a cornerstone for human flourishing and systemic transformation. The framework aims to support businesses in navigating and accelerating their sustainable transition. The Mandala of Agency (MoA), see Figure 5.1 is a holistic framework designed to foster a culture of economic well-being by placing individual and collective agency at the core of systemic change (Lomeli Aguirre, 2022). It is a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating insights from diverse fields to recognize the importance of individual agency as a foundation for collective agency, which then drives organisational transformation from the ground up. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that cultural change draws on various perspectives to make it a comprehensive and holistic model. “Ensuring that every human being is cared for, secure, and perceives the distribution of the planet’s resources as fair is a critical condition for a sustainable system. While it does not demand absolute equality, it emphasises fairness in resource allocation.” - Karl-Henrik Robèrt (1989) Co-Author: Elena Lomeli Aguirre for Change Management eing is cared for, secure, and perceives the sources as fair is a critical condition for a es not demand absolute equality, it emphasises ” r: Elena Lomeli Aguirre economy of well-being is complex, systemic, ndividuals and organisations often struggle to ast-changing world.
